When Life Gives You Rust.... Use Lemons!

As some may know or not know yet I am in love with vintage fabrics. My life revolves around the search for the great find! Last weekend I found an amazing piece... Or so I thought. It was a local couples Grandmother while cotton table cloth with beautiful white floral embroidery. The piece was in great condition except I came to find some rust spots. Not Good! So I did some digging and found the solution to my problem. LEMONS! It was a life saver or a fabric saving at least. Here are the steps because I know I was so excited when the spots were gone.

* PLEASE NOTE IF THE FABRIC IS VERY DELICATE I WOULD SUGGEST TAKING IT TO A PROFESSIONAL *

STEP 1

Lay the rust-stained fabric over several white paper towels, which will act as a blotter and absorb the rust.

Step 2

Cut a lemon in half and saturate the stain with the fresh lemon juice. (Bottled lemon juice will work, too.)

Step 3

Set the fabric (with the paper towel blotter beneath) out in the sun to dry. The rust stain will disappear.

Step 4

Launder as usual.

If laundering is not possible and the stain remains, try these steps:

STEP 5

Test a fabric-safe rust remover, such as Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser & Polish, then apply according to package directions.

STEP 6

After using, flush (the method of applying stain remover to loosen staining material and residue from stain removers) the area with cool water and launder as soon as possible.

ALL THE BEST

Most Amazing Mom in the World

As just about everyone knows that coming soon is one of the most special holidays of the year “Mother’s Day”. Although one should really celebrate their Mother’s each and EVERY day. Moms are the every reason you are who you are today. I am blessed with amazing Mom to say the least. She is a unique combination of sweet and strong, smart and stylish loving and understanding, and beautiful inside and out! Her life has been far from easy, but she always endures and seems to do it with little effort as if life’s trails were as easy folding the laundry, which by the way she is amazing at! This little blog could never do her justice so I am not going to even try to explain how amazing she is! I will just continue to love and adore her for everything she has given me that only a mother can. Call her to say I love you as often as I can. And thank my lucky stars that I am blessed to have such a Mother in my life.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU GREAT BIG MOM!!!!!!

Different Kind of Birthday Gift!

I love May. It is getting warmer and everything is starting to bloom. Today is my birthday. I am blessed with amazing friends and family. They are all so good to me in so many different ways. This birthday year came with a great surprise. I completely take pleasure in what I do, but what I enjoy more is when a customer from completely different part of the country finds me and falls in love with my creations that I adore. My very favorite Athena Dress was bought by a customer in Kentucky! Too bad it was after the Derby. It would have been a great design for such an event. I cannot wait to send it out to the expecting customer. I hope they enjoy it as much as I had pleasure in making it.

Day at the Beach

To think that I am very blessed to have found something I love to do and build a life with it would be a very big understatement. Today is a gorgeous day to say the least which I spent most of at the beach sewing and researching. And I call that work! Kids are playing and couples are out walking their dogs. Life is not hard. Soon enough this beach will be loaded with weekenders and locals alike that is if you have a permit. Town beaches require a permit most days going into the summer season. Therefore one is restricted to the beach access with minimal parking spots or paying a fee! Unless of course to try to avoid getting a pass and get surprise $175 ticket on your car. So go out and get a pass which are available at Southampton Village Hall, 23 Main Street, Southampton, New York. Generally, hours are from 10:00am to 2:00pm Monday through Friday. During the 2ND week of May through the end of June, More information can be viewed at http://www.southamptontownny.gov/filestorage/760/762/782/1048/1434/BeachInformation-Map.pdf
