As some may know or not know yet I am in love with vintage fabrics. My life revolves around the search for the great find! Last weekend I found an amazing piece... Or so I thought. It was a local couples Grandmother while cotton table cloth with beautiful white floral embroidery. The piece was in great condition except I came to find some rust spots. Not Good! So I did some digging and found the solution to my problem. LEMONS! It was a life saver or a fabric saving at least. Here are the steps because I know I was so excited when the spots were gone.
* PLEASE NOTE IF THE FABRIC IS VERY DELICATE I WOULD SUGGEST TAKING IT TO A PROFESSIONAL *
STEP 1
Lay the rust-stained fabric over several white paper towels, which will act as a blotter and absorb the rust.
Step 2
Cut a lemon in half and saturate the stain with the fresh lemon juice. (Bottled lemon juice will work, too.)
Step 3
Set the fabric (with the paper towel blotter beneath) out in the sun to dry. The rust stain will disappear.
Step 4
Launder as usual.
If laundering is not possible and the stain remains, try these steps:
STEP 5
Test a fabric-safe rust remover, such as Bar Keepers Friend Cleanser & Polish, then apply according to package directions.
STEP 6
After using, flush (the method of applying stain remover to loosen staining material and residue from stain removers) the area with cool water and launder as soon as possible.
ALL THE BEST
